Dropbox Launches Real-Time Co-Authoring and Other Microsoft 365 Integrations

Dropbox Microsoft 365 integrations

Dropbox announced new Microsoft 365 integrations and more today as part of a massive Spring 2024 release. Real-time co-authoring for Office files within Dropbox is now available in beta, and there’s also a new OneDrive with Dropbox Replay, the company’s new live review video collaboration tool.

“One of Dropbox’s most-requested features ever, Co-Authoring allows multiple team members to collaboratively edit Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files from desktop, web, and mobile, natively within Dropbox,” the company explained today. “You can also see who’s in the document and where they’re editing in real-time, so everyone is working off the latest version.”

This feature lets Dropbox users pull video content from OneDrive for reviews and approvals without downloading and re-uploading the files.

Dropbox also recently rolled out other integrations with Microsoft 365 apps. The Dropbox app for Teams already let users share files and upload content to Dropbox without leaving the app, but it now integrates with Copilot for Microsoft 365. With an appropriate license, Teams users can use the AI assistant to ask questions and generate summaries about Dropbox content.

On the web, Dropbox is also adding dynamic filters to help users access content in fewer clicks. Lastly, Dropbox Dash, the company’s AI-powered universal search is getting a redesigned Start page and new connectors for more than 20 apps including OneNote and Zendesk. Dash still remains in beta and it’s only available in English.
