Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase Returns on June 9, Followed By Deep Dive Into New Game

Xbox Games Showcase June 9 2024

The Xbox team is riding on the energy from yesterday’s IGN x ID@Xbox Digital Showcase as it just announced its next Xbox Games Showcase on June 9. The team highlighted that this will be the first Xbox event to feature games from Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda and Xbox Game Studios, though there will be third-party games on the show as well.

This Xbox Games Showcase will air at 10 AM PT, and it will be followed by “a special deep-dive into the next installment of a beloved franchise.” The Verge’s Tom Warren is reporting that this will be the next Call of Duty game to be released later this fall.

We already know that the Xbox exclusive games Ara: History Untold and Avowed are coming in Fall 2024, while Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is also expected to be released later this year. We’re likely to get release dates for these 3 games during the Xbox showcase. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, the next generation of the Microsoft Flight Simulator franchise is also coming later this year and it will likely be part of the show.

According to The Verge, Microsoft may also announce that the Shattered Space expansion for Starfield is coming in September, and it should help to breathe new life into Bethesda’s latest game. Recent rumors also suggested that Microsoft may announce a new Gears of War game very soon.

It’s probably not a coincidence that today’s Xbox Games Showcase announcement comes on the day Microsoft releases Sea of Thieves on PlayStation 5. There’s no doubt that the company’s recent decision to release four of its games on other consoles left some Xbox fans confused about the future of Xbox exclusives. That’s why with its upcoming Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft will need to show that the Xbox ecosystem is now stronger than ever.

Last but not least, it’s also probably time for the company to start bringing more Activision Blizzard games to Game Pass. The next Call of Duty game coming to Game Pass on day one could definitely help to make the Xbox ecosystem more attractive than it is today.
