Microsoft Highlights New AI-Powered Features in its Edge Browser

Microsoft Edge AI features

Microsoft released the version 126 of its Edge browser on the Stable channel last week, which brought a couple of new AI features ahead of the launch of the first Copilot+ PCs this week. Microsoft releases new “major” versions of Edge every four weeks, but as these updates are installed in the background, it can be hard to keep track of new features.

That’s probably why Microsoft wanted to highlight these new AI-powered features in Edge in a blog post today. And the first one is the Edge Theme Generator, which can create custom themes from a simple text prompt.

“From designing a beautiful summer landscape to help you get through your workday or even prep for fantasy football season with your very own custom image to rep your team, Theme Generator can help you create it,” Microsoft explained today. “You will also be able to customize the color of your browser frame to match your browser theme.”

Microsoft Edge’s AI theme generator is powered by Microsoft Designer, and it’s available on this page. However, Microsoft said that this feature was rolling out gradually to Edge users.

Edge Workspaces, the feature that lets users collaborate on activities by organizing them by project or task is also getting smarter. With AI in Edge Workspaces, the browser can pre-populate a workspace with relevant sites related to a specific project and organize these websites sites into groups. This feature is currently available in preview with a limited number of users, and the Edge team plans to add support for more search queries over time.

With Copilot in Microsoft Edge, the browser can already summarize any web page. Microsoft Edge 126 improves this experience by displaying an Omnibox notification when users enter into a reading mode eligible page in Edge. The browser will then suggest to summarize the page’s content in the Copilot sidebar. This last feature is also rolling out gradually.
