Vivaldi 6.8 Arrives with Vivaldi Mail 2.0

Vivaldi 6.8 for desktop is now available, and it arrives with a major new release of its integrated mail app, Vivaldi Mail 2.0.

“Those who use our browser and built-in tools like the Vivaldi Mail client, know us for our commitment to making powerful improvements to productivity,” Vivaldi’s Jon von Tetzchner writes. “With the latest Vivaldi Mail 2.0, you can quick-reply to emails, undo up to 200 recent accidental actions, have more options for how your emails are stored offline, and a whole lot more.”

Vivaldi Mail works locally, on-device, and it’s built around a “comprehensive search index” that now supports pre-fetching the previous 30 days of email by default for even better performance. Pre-fetching also lets you see the first 1 to 3 lines of each email without opening them first. Yes, you can disable this feature or configure how much mail it downloads.

Vivaldi Mail 2.0 also supports an inline Quick Reply feature and Undo with support for the previous 200 actions.

As for the web browser, Vivaldi 6.8 displays tab memory usage in real-time on mouse hover, an updated Break Mode, a Quick Command feature for creating workspaces from multiple tabs, a Switch to this tab feature in autocomplete as you type a URL, Chrome extension import, improvements to the built-in tracking and ad blocker, and support for two new languages, Georgian and Sinhala, bringing the total to 55.
