Intel today announced Thunderbolt Share, a new solution for PC-to-PC experiences powered by Thunderbolt 4 and 5.

“We are excited to continue to lead the industry in connectivity solutions with Thunderbolt technology,” Intel vice president and general manager Jason Ziller writes. “Thunderbolt Share delivers on our aspiration to bring innovative solutions to the market and deliver new experiences for users to get the most out of their PCs. Now, users can seamlessly access one PC from another at Thunderbolt technology speeds. It truly changes how users can be more productive and efficient.”

Thunderbolt Share targets users with two or more modern PCs who wish to use them simultaneously. It provides responsive and uncompressed screen sharing, fast file sharing with drag-and-drop, and easier collaboration when sharing large files via a private and secure connection that doesn’t require Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or cloud-based networks. Thunderbolt Share works via a single Thunderbolt cable, or users can go through a single dock or hub and access multiple PCs and accessories.

Thunderbolt Share will ship in select PCs starting in the second half of 2024, Intel says. Acer, Lenovo, MSI, Razer, and other PC makers will adopt this technology, as will peripheral makers like Belkin, Kensington, OWC, Plugable, Promise, and others.
