Windows 11 Insider Build 26236 Lands on the Canary Channel

The Windows 11 Insider build 26236 is now available to download for Insiders on the Canary Channel. This update includes a small set of general improvements and fixes, and it also brings the new account manager experience on the Start menu.

As you may remember, this new account manager on the Start Menu previously rolled out to other Insider channels. For users signed in with a Microsoft account, the new design displays account benefits and informations on how users can keep their accounts secure.

Today’s Windows 11 Insider build 26236 also includes a fix for an issue that was causing the taskbar to not appear for a small number of Insiders in recent builds. Microsoft also fixed an issue causing the preferred audio volume for Microsoft Edge to not persist after restarting the app.

A new Microsoft Store update has also started rolling out to Insiders on all Channels today. This update introduces an new Microsoft Wallet dialog during checkout that let users redeem Microsoft Rewards for points for a gift card to apply towards their purchase.

If the Canary Channel doesn’t get a lot of attention these days, Microsoft is likely busy polishing Windows 11 version 24H2 for the release of the first Qualcomm-powered Copilot+ PCs next week. After listening to feedback from privacy-conscious users, the company said last week that it was tweaking its controversial Recall feature to improve privacy and security safeguards.
